ELM/KWA Private Christian School K-12 and Adult High School Programs
ELM/KWA Private Christian School, located east of Lancaster, California, opened in September 2018, catering to students from various nearby cities, including homeschoolers using the school's curriculum.
Initially starting with just three students from 6th and 10th grades, the school's population grew to 11 by the end of the first year.
Currently, it offers education from Kindergarten through 12th grade during daytime and runs an Adult High School Program in the evening.
The school was co-founded by Dr. Verda Thompson, along with Drs. Andres and Teresa Nava. From its single-teacher beginning, the school now boasts seven teachers and a PE instructor, serving 38 on-site students and 14 independent study students.
The small group settings in classes allow for personalized instruction. Enrollment is distributed across various grades, with the largest number of students in the kindergarten and the least in first and twelfth grades.
The student body is diverse, predominantly Hispanic or Latino (70%), followed by Asian (13%) and Black or African American (10%) students.
All students are proficient in English.
The school has seen a steady increase in student numbers since its inception, relying solely on word-of-mouth for growth. This increase includes an expanded adult education program.
