Galatians 6 – Sowing & Reaping
1 Corinthians 13 – Love
Matthew 6:14, 15 – Forgiveness
Matthew 7:1-5 – Judgement
Micah 7:19,20 – Reaping
It is so important to understand what the Word of God says about ‘reaping what we sow’. (Gal.6:7) Also, what this truly means. We reap what we sow – good or bad and the crop is many times more multiplied than the ‘seed’ sown. It is amazing that people fail to grasp this absolute truth.
At this time in history we see the opinions, beliefs and even conviction that leads to anger and even violence. Most of this is carried by attitudes of pride and revenge. Scripture is clear that judgement and revenge are in God’s hands, not mans. All things, though they appear to be physical, are spiritual.
It seems that as the pride and anger rises, people resort to digging, fishing and trolling in the past failures (real or imagined) of those with whom they disagree. This is dangerous as what is past is past and under the Blood of Jesus for the believer. Those who trespass this will pay a heavy price. (Micah 7:19,20)
We can also look at Psalm 64. We see where David says snares are set for him and lips speaking against him. We see that for all the arrows shot – God shoots one arrow back and gravely wounds those setting the snares and digging pits for people they disagree with and those they hate. This applies to everyone, not just those we perceive as our enemy. The ‘snare’ is us getting caught up in planting negative seeds, and becoming part of the problem.
Scripture is also clear about forgiveness, not keeping a record of wrongs, the need to avoid offense and not judging. Just think about dredging up someone’s past, back 10, 20, 30 years or more – even 50 years past – and as a person does that what they will reap. The crop will be 100 fold turned their way, and will result in a wound (spiritually, emotionally, financially) they may not be able to recover from.
As we intercede, we encourage all people to stay out of people’s pasts, walk in Godly love, forgive, pull down strongholds and leave judgement to the Lord.
It may do well to reflect on Proverbs 6:16…
